As we enter the month of March we are starting our push for one of our biggest fundraisers…..BINGO! We need to all join in and work together to make this event a big success. NEED TO SELL LOTS OF TICKETS!

BOARD NOTES

  • Sierra Mountain Communities for a Cure” Relay for Life. Dori andSuzy are our chairs . The event starts Friday evening, March 29th at 5:00 pm at Minarets and continues with Kiwanis providing the Survivors “Healthy Breakfast” and a Pancake Breakfast to the public for $5.00/person from 7:30 am – 10:30 am.
  • BINGO – Please start bringing your raffle items and GC’s for BINGO prizes to any regular meeting before the event. The menu is bangers and beans with cole slaw and cheesecake for dessert. Mike S. is chair and has flyers for circulation among our communities.
  • Woodcarver’s Rendezvous – We will be cooking breakfast and dinner. The dinner Menu is meatloaf, roast potatoes, green beans, salad and 50/50 bars for dessert. Mike Lindman is the chair. Sign Up to follow.
  • Election of Officers and Directors will be coming up soon. A Nominating Comm. of John, Vicki and Harvey will prepare the slate and we will vote the first meeting in May.MARCH EVENTS

PRESIDENT’S CORNER – Happy New Year my fellow Kiwanian’s
As we start the New Year let us resolve to make our club the best in the mountain community.

BOARD NOTES

  •   Heidi Close was voted into membership
  •   Outpouring – Over 400 home cooked Christmas meals were served tomembers of the community who attended the 12th year of this great event.. Many Thanks to our members who provided food or $ to continue this wonderful holiday treat.
  •   Kiwanis Christmas Party – About 30 members and guests enjoyed sharing some Christmas spirit. Many gifts were collected for kids at VCH.
  •   Breakfast with Santa was another great and well received event. $1000.00 was given from the profits to the Children’s Museum.
  •   Girl Scout Troop 3041 “Twelve Days of Christmas” Service Project. Two families were selected through the Boys and Girls Club and different gifts were delivered to each family beginning Dec. 13 through Dec. 24. In collaboration with two other scout troops as well as our own troop and Kiwanis members over $700.00 was collected to purchase the gifts. It all started with a completely decorated Christmas Tree on Dec. 13 and followed every evening with such gifts as Gas card, Target GC, Movie Basket, Gingerbread House, Dinner at a local restaurant, Hot Chocolate Box and culminated with several gifts for each child on Dec. 24th. Many Thanks to a few Kiwanians who were able to experience the real gift of giving during the holidays this year.
  •   The ROV Team made a presentation to the board about their ongoing project. The board awarded them $150.00. Look for the ROV Team speaking engagement in February.
  •   Taco Bar Evening is being considered for July. Give your ideas to JohnJANUARY EVENTS

2018 Recipients of the Mini-Grants for Elementary and Intermediate schools of Eastern Madera County.  19 grants were funded from a total of $10k raised from the Run for the Gold Car Show held in September.

As we head to the end of 2018, I would like to wish each club member and their families a Happy and Joyous Holiday.
We have had a great 2018; let us work together to have an even better 2019. We had a fun Inner Club meeting with East Fresno Club, sharing each others upcoming events. It was great having them at our meeting. My thanks to all who helped with our Breakfast with Santa event with no snow!

BOARD NOTES

  •   Mini Grants – The Awards Program will be Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018 . We have 18 Mini Grants to award.
  •   Breakfast with Santa – 400+ kids and adults were served breakfast before visiting with Santa . Details to follow.
  •   Outpouring – See Suzy Ruhe to sign up for what food to bring
  •   Kiwanis Christmas Party – Bring on appetizer or dessert for 8 and an optionalunwrapped gift for a VCH kid.
  •   East Fresno Club joined us for an Inner Club
  •   Girl Scout Troop 3041 made a presentation to the board re: their 12 days ofXmas benefit to 2 needy families. Members are asked to make monetary orgift card donations. See Vicki for details.
  •   Minarets Girls JV Basketball was granted $100.00 towards sponsorship of theirteam.DECEMBER EVENTS
