January 2017 Newsletter
Sierra-Oakhurst Kiwanis Newsletter JANUARY 2017 Joe Cooper, PRESIDENT PRESIDENT’S CORNER……Time flies when we all get slightly OLDER. One quarter of the Kiwanis year has gone, and we are beginning a brand new calendar year. If you have had a chance to watch the Rose Parade you hopefully will be sitting in your easy chair, with a cup of coffee or other libation at your side. If you got sidelined by all the football games I hope you can be generous if your team won and your friends did not (or vice a versa). I do expect a fair amount of happy/sad $’s at the next meeting, which will be our regular evening meeting on Jan. 10. Our speaker will be presenting info on the Kiwanis Key Leader Program, which should be of interest to everyone (think of your kids, grandkids, great grandkids?) Speaking of kids, the breakfast at Minarets on Dec. 22 was apparently a success with a cooking crew of Bob. S., Mike, Ed, Jim R., Rich, Dori and Bob Hunting. The Christmas Season has come and gone, but let’s all be thankful for our health, the friendship we have in the club, the good Kiwanis does in the community and the world and the ability to make things better all over. Our condolences go out to Jeanne for the recent loss of her husband and thanks to those who were able to attend Ken’s memorial service. That’s about all for now, so I’m looking forward to getting back to the regular schedule. Remember, we have a new menu as of the first meeting at Best western, so let’s give it a fair try. JOE BOARD NOTES • The Board is re-evaluating the Bike Program and is considering a Recognition Program. Our Bike Pgm.
