Sierra-Oakhurst Kiwanis Newsletter FEBRUARY 2017 Joe Cooper, PRESIDENT PRESIDENT’S CORNER……As you know we have changed our night meeting back to the regular time of noon on Tuesday. It was a valiant try, but we did not get any new members and some that we took in still haven’t shown up! The club functions best when all the members are active at meetings and functions. By the time you read this mid-winter conference will be over, however there is another one in Riverside on March 4. See me if you want to attend. We have several events coming up (see upcoming events). If you can help at any event please contact the event chair or me. The more we have at functions the easier it is on everybody. It also gives us a chance to learn more about individual members. I appreciate all the help I get from the respective chairs of all of our events. It also helps to keep me on the slightly straight and narrow path. Without them this club would not be as active or as well known. JOE

BOARDNOTES

Our Girl Scout Troop will be selling cookies at our March Pancake Breakfast. Let’s support them in a BIG Way! Easter Breakfast and Lunch – We will be serving breakfast from 8-10am of pancakes with a choice of coffee, milk or juice for $6.00 per person and lunch from 10-12noon of hot dog, drink and chips for $6.00. Sign up will be available as we get closer to the event. BINGO – Please see Jeanne for tickets and table reservations. We still need $25 GC’s from businesses that will be used as BINGO game winner prizes. Request for Donation letters will be available at the Feb. 7th meeting and via e-mail along with the flyer. To date we have 16 raffle prizes, so just need a few more. Effective in February only the business meeting will be the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Thereafter the business meeting will be the first Tuesday of the month.

REMEMBER – NO MORE EVENING MEETINGS The board voted to give Tatiana Freeland $100.00 for her Senior Project of providing a Prom for educationally handicapped students. It was agreed to accept the Golden Chain Contract for our Oct. fundraiser. Car Show Planning – need to get our sponsors now. Voted to no longer have Boy Scouts at our Pancake Breakfasts. Instead 2 volunteers will be asked to help from Minarets and YHS Key clubs respectively. Bike Program – waiting for more information Need to decide recipients of DSA awards. Let Joe know.
