Sierra-Oakhurst Kiwanis Newsletter APRIL 2017
Joe Cooper, PRESIDENT PRESIDENT’S CORNER…… April marks the start of the downward slide of the year, and we can look forward to many worthwhile activities which this club supports or sponsors. We have board meetings, some interesting speakers for the coming months, Easter Egg breakfast and lunch, Woodcarvers breakfast and dinner, the Governors visit, District convention, graduations, Miracle Mile of Quarters, a car show and a lot of other activities. As club members, we should all try to find some time to be active in these activities as it makes for smoother work, easier for all concerned, and fosters a spirit of friendship and camareadre between the members. That said, my thanks to Vicki and all the members who worked on the Bingo event (regardless of some problems with the participants), those who attended the DCM on the same day, and who worked the pancake breakfast. I enjoyed the Midwinter South as I was able to get some programs I had to miss while at North, and connected with a number of my Kiwanis friends from parts of the Central Valley. Everyone can be proud of the fact that Kiwanis is one big family, and in times of adversity can be called on for support. This is due to an international organization with a grass roots foundation, with aims directed at the local community, at division and district levels, and our global projects which we can all be proud of. I couldn’t list all the names at the events, because my message would be 2 pages long, but you all know who you are. MANY THANKS FOR ALL THIS CLUB DOES. JOE
BOARD NOTES Easter Breakfast and Lunch – We will be serving breakfast from 8-10am of pancakes with a choice of coffee, milk or juice and lunch from 10-12noon of hot dog, drink and chips. Sign up will be available as we get closer to the event.
Car Show Planning – need to get our sponsors now.
Next meeting April 4th after the regular meeting. A donation has been made to Fresno Flats as a “Thank You” for their drink donation.
BINGO Results – a mixed review! Very good financially, but some out of control guests made it very uncomfortable for some.
BRING YOUR CHECK BOOKS TO NEXT WEEKS MEETING! Dori, Vicki, Jerrie and Harvey will have tickets to La Sierra Guild Cinco de Mayo lunch on MAY 3 at 11:30 am.
