Sierra-Oakhurst Kiwanis Newsletter
April, 2016
BOB SPINELLI, PRESIDENT
PRESIDENT’S CORNER…
I would like to say a BIG “Thank You” to the members that made the BINGO event a success. Especially to Vicki, Dori and John who drove the event. Without our members who participated in the event, the success would not have happened. Again, Thank You.
As we roll into April, we will be doing our Breakfast and Dinner for the Woodcarver’s Event on April 17 and again we will see our members making this a success. Mike, I’m sure will do another fine job of making this a success for the Woodcarver’s.
I would also like to extend a Thank You to the Scholarship Comm. for taking the time to sift through all the applications of our Mountain High School Seniors and coming up with 5 outstanding students to award $1000.00 each.
Lastly, yet the MOST IMPORTANT, John L. is planning a new membership social event for May or June. This will be an evening event to bring in prospective new members. There will some advertising, but most of all, YOU. As members it is our duty to make our club strong and active, so recruit an associate or a friend to be a Kiwanis member. Tell them why you belong, why you love being a person serving your community.

BOARD NOTES
• Continue to save your quarters for Miracle Mile. M&M tubes have been distributed and more are available from Harvey.
• The new 2016 Kiwanis Car Show Sponsorship levels are out. If you didn’t get yours via e-mail contact BOB S. We have a few sponsors and 11 registrations.
• Checks were sent to Sober Grad Night, Torch of Excellence, the Fishing Derby, Relay for Life and the Eliminate Program per the budget.
• We have been asked to purchase and cook hamburgers and hot dogs for the Blue and Gold Dinner on June 24th at 5 pm.
• Our Girl Scout troop is looking for old Brownie and Girl Scout memorabilia, like pins, badge sashes, uniforms and pictures. Vicki will be collecting.
• The board voted to change the Board meetings back to the first Monday of the month at 8:00am effective May 2016. This will coincide better with the Newsletter activities and the Treasurer’s reports.
• The Scholarship Comm. has selected 5 very ambitious students to receive $1000.00 each. There are 2 from YHS, 2 from Minarets and 1 from Glacier. Presenters are needed for the awards programs.
• John is looking at dates for a “meet and greet” meeting in the evening at the Best Western to bring in more members.
